Apex Learning Virtual School
The Online High School Schedule that Fits with Ice Time
Since 2014, Apex Learning Virtual School has been the exclusive online high school program for the NAHL. Hundreds of hockey players, just like yours, have completed our individual high school courses or graduated with our high school diploma. Whether at a training center, on the road, or at home, our program gives hockey players the flexibility to complete coursework at their own pace and on their own time.
We know that every semester matters to elite hockey players. At a traditional high school, your student is missing classes and making up coursework because of constant travel and a busy training and game schedule. Perpetually playing catch-up can easily result in one bad term, putting your player's hockey career and college prospects at risk.
We believe that your son or daughter shouldn't have to sacrifice their education to follow their passion. We're committed to offering a high-quality educational experience built entirely around your student's schedule. Our award-winning curriculum will prepare your student for future studies, college, and career. Our teachers and support services have been proven to meet the needs of hockey families like yours.
Online high school requires more independent learning than at a traditional school. We offer a comprehensive program to ensure that students attain academic success. Our support services feature the following:
- Experienced online teachers who provide formative feedback and help with course content.
- Knowledgeable online tutors who provide live homework help Monday-Friday.
- Encouraging guidance counselors who provide academic support and mentorship.
- Parent support tools to monitor student progress.
As a preferred online course provider of the NCAA, we have supported many students who are now successful in Division 1, 2 and 3 collegiate athletics. We work hard to make sure your student-athlete meets NCAA eligibility requirements. Our guidance counselor, Joseph O'Leary, served for three years on the NCAA National High School Advisory Council and is now a permanent member of their National Advisory Board.
NAHL players who have attended our school have been accepted to elite colleges such as Air Force Academy, Clarkson University, Holy Cross, Niagara University, Providence College, Norwich Academy, and West Point.
During the 2016-17 school year, our students scored 15% higher on the SAT than the national average. 65% of students who took our AP® courses scored a 3 or higher on an AP College Board exam which is five percentage points higher than the national average of 60% for the same exams. Check out our School Profile for more information.

What Parents Say
"If you are considering ALVS for your athletic student I would 100% recommend them. The home study accommodates the crazy schedule of student-athletes... As a parent of a traveling student-athlete it is a struggle to keep up with all the endless requirements. I can assure you that the professionals at ALVS made this transition more palatable.
There are many stressors to a traveling student-athlete. Our son's education was at the top. He was recruited when he was 16 and moved to the East Coast where he did his sophomore year of high school online through ALVS... ALVS worked with our high school guidance counselor to make sure our son was meeting the graduation requirements locally as well as meeting the NCAA requirements." — Christine S, parent
What Students Say
"Due to my busy sports and travel schedule, a traditional class setting doesn't work for me. Apex allows me to focus on both, my education and my athletics. I may now work around my team schedule and maintain good grades so I may get into a good college." — Richie V., student
